Guided Tours of the Fortifications
From May to September, the Great Šance fortifications will be open to the public for scheduled guided tours.
During the first part of each tour, visitors will explore the interactive exhibition at the Visitor Centre, which introduces the history and purpose of the Great Šance and the entire Jablunkov Fortification System located on the historical Silesian–Hungarian border.
The exhibition explains why the fort was built, who the local defenders – the “vybranci” – were, and includes animated projections and other visual materials illustrating the site’s evolution over the centuries.
In the second part of the program, the guide leads the group through the area of the Great Šance fortress, highlighting locations and outlines of historical structures that once stood there.
Guided tours are also available outside the announced dates for pre-booked groups.
