Šancefest 2026 – History, Music, and Crafts at the Great Šance -  www.sancefest.cz, FB
On 15 August 2026, the Great Šance fortification will once again host Šancefest, a traditional celebration of history, crafts, and local culture. This one-of-a-kind event takes place in a truly authentic historical setting – an atmosphere impossible to recreate anywhere else. The combination of history, landscape, and tradition gives Šancefest a unique regional and cultural significance. In 2026, the festival will expand with an additional family-friendly hiking event, “Come and Defend the Fort”, taking place on 20 June 2026. This interactive experience will guide participants through the fascinating 400-year story of the Great Šance, blending outdoor fun with history.

Historical and Cultural Program
Visitors can explore the military past of the fortress through living history stations where costumed soldiers and volunteers bring the 17th–19th centuries to life. You can watch musket and cannon firing demonstrations, see the daily life of the garrison, and enjoy historical storytelling accompanied by music.
The cultural program will feature performances by local artists and music bands, turning the day into a lively festival full of energy, tradition, and community spirit. Between the Visitor Centre and the fort, a crafts and traditions zone will showcase artisans, regional products, and creative workshops for children.

Goulash Cooking Contest – “Šancmajstr’s Best Goulash”
A popular highlight of Šancefest is the traditional goulash cooking competition. Teams of local chefs and enthusiasts will compete for the title of “Šancmajstr’s Best Goulash,” with tasting and judging by both the public and a professional chef.
Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy a rich selection of regional dishes, craft products, and traditional delicacies.

A Festival for Everyone
Šancefest combines history, gastronomy, music, and crafts into one unforgettable summer day at the historic Great Šance. Whether you come for the history, the food, or the fun – you’ll leave with memories that last.
