Pig-slaughtering in Mosty

The tradition of this event started only in 2017 (2 Dec 2017). The Gorol Tourist Information Centre organizes a traditional pig-slaughtering in the centre of the village at Fojství wooden cottage on Saturday before the first Advent Sunday.
The pig is not killed directly in place! Already a disembowelled and cleaned pig is delivered and hanged on the tripod. For the whole afternoon, viewers may watch the butcher working and preparing pig-slaughtering specialities, such as black- and white puddings, pork jowl, head cheese and other butcher products. Specialities prepared in place will not be for sale, though. However, people do not need to worry; they will not lose the occasion to taste the titbits. They will be able to purchase them in the surrounding stands of certified butchers and take them home. Also, stalls offering warm refreshment will be available.
A rich accompanying program is prepared for adults and kids, and includes manual workshops, organ-grinder’s narration and singing with barrel organ, fairy tales for children and adults, stylish fair band, narration of butcher the collar, competition “For a white pudding that the world had not seen” in eating the white puddings, pig-slaughtering soup for poor and rich ones. The atmosphere of the event will be created also by the accompanying program called "On our homestead" - menagerie with sheep, a ride on the donkey, historic stands with an open fire with lead pouring, chestnuts baking and tasting, blacksmith, minting shop.
The event will culminate with the arrival of Nicholas, lighting of the Christmas tree and handing out gifts to kids.
The organizer very much welcomes all stallholders willing to sell pig-slaughtering specialities (warm and take away ones) and regional products at the event, as well as individuals or associations wishing to participate in the implementation of an accompanying program (manual workshops, program for the kids, contests, etc.).
